I was introduced to the Launching Leaders course five years ago when I was the World-Wide President of the BYU Management Society, a business and professional group sponsored by the Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. This program appealed to me because it has an approach to making improvements in your life that I had successfully used to help Fortune 500 companies make operational improvements during the last 25 years of my career. During the past 12 months, I have successfully facilitated the course in Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia
The Launching Leaders Program is a faith-based program that helps individuals make improvements in some of the most important areas of their lives. The course consists of 5 core classes, and students will participate in course instruction and have assignments they must complete each week.
The BYU MS Asia Pacific and Launching Leaders have joined together to help to bring the course online to the Asia Pacific region. Students taking the BYU MS Asia Pacific Launching Leaders Course should expect to spend between 2 to 3 hours per week on the course instruction and homework.
What is the Launching Leaders Course?
Launching Leaders is a faith-based course that helps you make improvements in the most important areas of your life. It is a personal development course that is designed to help to build future and present leaders.
The Launching Leaders class lasts for 5 weeks and the the topics topics/assignments are:
- Identify 3-4 areas of your life that are important to you—and you are not doing well.
- Pick a goal you would like to achieve in each of these areas.
- Identify activities you can engage in working towards these goals.
- Identify and work with mentors who can help you in items 1-3.
- Learn and apply the 6 elements of the “Formula.”
How Does the Launching Leaders Program Work?
The Launching Leaders program has very carefully outlined a five-week program. Below I have outlined to you the logistic of how the program actually works.
Logistics of the Launching Leaders groups:
- Typically have 10-15 people enrolled from the same country.
- Spend approximately one hour per week in reviewing the material and completing the assignments.
- Spend one hour a week in a virtual gathering learning from each other.
- Certificates of Completion are available to those who complete the assignments and attend and participate in the gatherings.
What Can I Expect From the Launching Leaders Course?
The Launching Leaders program is set up to help each student to be able to target very specific areas of growth in their individual lives. The program very specifically targets those areas that can give the greatest impact to each individual.
Here are some typical areas that class members want to improve:
- Becoming more self-reliant
- Improving relationships with family members
- Finding and working with mentors
- Learning how to identify and achieve goals

Do I Need To Be A BYU MS Member To Join?
Though we encourage those that attend the course to be members of their BYU MS Asia Pacific Chapter this requirement will vary from chapter to chapter. Please contact your local chapter to find out more about the program and what their individual requirements are.
What If I Can Only Attend A Few Classes And Not All The Classes?
We encourage all our students to arrange their time to be able to attend every single class. If you are not able to attend every single class then it is best you wait to take the class at a time when you can attend every class.
Will I Interact With Other Students Online Or Is This A Lecture Kind Of Course?
This is in an interactive class where students will work together within the course setting. This is also why 100% attendance at the online course is important.
