Revolutionizing the Housing Market

Strong-Lock Bricks, Ltd. is dedicated to transforming the small house-building market by producing interlocking solid cement bricks. Operating a small plant that produces 12,000 bricks monthly, the company is utilizing only half of its production capacity. “Our goal is to enable the construction of cost-effective, durable, and elegant homes suitable for tropical climates,” Paul explains.

Impressive Growth and Efficiency

The company has seen significant growth, with projections indicating a 138% increase in brick sales by the end of this 2023 compared to last 2022. “By next year, we may need additional machinery, a bigger worksite, and double work shifts to meet the growing demand,” Paul notes. Strong-Lock Bricks has cut operating expenses by over 60% through strategic changes in service delivery and business models, resulting in a tripling of net profit.

Community Empowerment and Training

A local association organized by Strong-Lock Bricks has been granted distribution rights, providing individuals and church members training in marketing, selling, and technical skills. “Our leadership team is part of this association to ensure organizational efficiency and effective mentorship,”

Paul says. Members earn 10-12% of the closed contract price, while skilled workers receive continuous income through projects. Additionally, members building their homes for the first time receive a 30% discount, making housing more accessible.

Addressing Housing Challenges in the Philippines

The Philippines faces significant housing challenges exacerbated by climate change. Current building methods are unsuitable for tropical conditions, and most people cannot afford market-priced housing. “Our solution is the commercial production of solid cement interlocking bricks,” Paul explains. This approach addresses the national housing crisis and reduces the government’s backlog of 6.5 million units.

Strategic Marketing and Future Expansion

Strong-Lock Bricks employs a robust marketing strategy, utilizing social media to generate leads and offering free cost estimates, technical training, and site visits. “We close sales 95% of the time through our tour method,” Paul shares. The company plans to incorporate fly ash waste from power plants to reduce brick costs and carbon footprint and aims to expand to five regional centers via franchising.

Gratitude and Future Vision

Paul expressed his gratitude to the sponsors of the business plan competition, highlighting the insights gained. “The prize money will be used to plant our inventory and save up for new equipment,” he states. He encourages others to participate in future competitions, emphasizing the benefits of thorough preparation.

Strong-Lock Bricks, Ltd. is poised for significant growth, driven by a vision to make sustainable housing accessible and affordable. Paul’s leadership and innovative strategies promise a bright future for the company and the communities it serves.
