Karen De la Cruz is a passionate and dedicated professional committed to education and research. With an exceptional academic track record and a wealth of experience, Karen is a dynamic and inspiring educator.

Her journey began at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, where she excelled academically as a Dean’s Lister. Eager to expand her horizons,

Karen pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems at Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii), laying the foundation for a successful career. Driven by her love for learning, Karen earned a postgraduate degree in Language and Literacy Education from the University of the Philippines Open University.

Specializing in Language Acquisition Theories, Reading & Literacy Foundations, and Second Language Teaching, she acquired a deep understanding of effective teaching methodologies.

Karen’s language and literacy education expertise positions her as a valuable resource in fostering fluency and confidence in learners. Karen’s dedication to inclusive communication led her to obtain a certificate in Filipino Sign Language from De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. With this knowledge, she advocates for inclusivity and supports learners with diverse needs.

Furthermore, Karen’s passion for personalized education extends to her role as a homeschooling advocate for her two beautiful children, who excel as a pianist and a violinist.

In recognition of her outstanding abilities, Karen was chosen as one of the 300 master students out of 900 applicants for the highly competitive Master Class in Teaching Research at De La Salle University. This prestigious program further honed her skills and deepened her understanding of research-based teaching methodologies.

Karen is happily married to Royce, and they embrace the journey of homeschooling their talented children. By nurturing their passion for music, their children have excelled in playing the piano and the violin, showcasing the effectiveness of personalized education in unlocking individual potential.

In addition to her academic accomplishments and family commitments, Karen has showcased her skills and expertise in the corporate world. A career highlight was her tenure at IBM, where she was selected for a transformative project with Merck Sharpe and Dohme, taking her to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Her experience in the corporate sector has enriched her understanding of real-world applications and enhanced her ability to bridge academia and industry.

Karen’s dedication to service is also evident in her full-time mission in the California Sacramento Mission. During this period, she served in the English, American Sign Language, and Spanish programs, further developing her language skills and cultural competency.
